Socio-Cultural Factors Influencing Gender Preference among Antenatal Women in Urban Slums, Hyderabad
Abstract
The famous old proverb, “Raising a daughter is like watering a flower in neighbour’s garden” stands very true even in this modern era.
The termgender preferenceor sexual preferenceis used to describe the desire of biological parents for either a male or female child and-in the extreme-use a range of odious methods (e.g., infanticide and sex-selective abortions) to achieve that result.
